Te Mata Estate Hawkes Bay Chardonnay 750ml
This chardonnay has ripe stonefruit and citrus characters subtly enhanced by fermentation in seasoned oak barrels, lees contact and a creamy malolactic influence, to create a rich and elegant wine.
Roger Parkinson has been producing high-quality wines from his Martinbrough HQ for more than two decades. An immediately appealing, food friendly Chardonnay with a rich, freshly scented bouquet of stonefruit backed by spicy notes that tumble onto the persistent and balanced palate.
The wine has a freshness and vibrancy that gives it instant appeal. Made in a fruit-driven style it has stone fruit and peach stone flavours with hints of toasty oak. The palate has a fullness which gives it good length while at the same time finishing dry.
Typical fruit characters such as grapefruit and melon are supplemented by biscuity barrel ferment characters with a light butteriness from malo-lactic fermentation. The wine is rich and round, with soft acidity and attractive sweet fruit. A portion of the juice was fermented and aged in French oak barriques, with the rest in stainless steel tanks.
Fruit flavours are in the cool to moderate spectrum of citrus, white flowers, ripe grapefruit and melon. The style is mid-weight with elegant oak nicely tucked in, providing texture and lingering flavours of cashew, roasted almond and gun flint. The structure has a tight shape with the finesse and concentration that are hallmarks of Trinity Hill Chardonnay. It displays delicacy but richness and the beautifully linear acidity makes it a fantastic match with food. An excellent partner with white meats and seafood dishes.

The Villa Maria Private Bin East Coast blend consists of parcels grown in Gisborne, Hawkes Bay and a small portion from the Marlborough region. This inter-regional blend produces a complete wine displaying the full spectrum of Chardonnay flavours. The vineyards in the three regions are managed differently to ensure that their individual microclimate produces the optimal fruit.
SERVING SUGGESTION: Enjoy with an antipasto platter, chicken Caesar salad or seafood dish.
Styled to capture the regional essence of Gisborne, this wine offers a complex medley of aromas with hints of tropical fruits, fig and smoky grilled nut characters. The palate creamy and textured, that leads to a finish extended with fine acidity. This concentrated and powerful wine can be enjoyed upon release but will ultimately benefit from maturation, continuing to develop intriguing complexity over the next 8-10 years.
The Reserve Hawkes Bay displays pure and delicate aromas of white peach, flowers, flint and meal, which harmonise with an equally appealing palate. Creamy, cashew and tight-grained oak notes meld with polished fruit to form a seamless combination of understated power and length.
Lifted stone fruit, with attractive white peach aromas and subtle hints of oak give way to gentle ripe nectarine flavours which complement a well rounded succulent palate. Serve: A versatile wine, pair with sea food, particularly shell fish, white meats or creamy pasta. ABV: 13%
