he first release of this super-premium label in a 750ml bottle. Made from a seleciton of grapes from 24 year-old vines and aged from three years in French oak barriques. It's predictably very oaky although the oak is supported by intense fruit flavours. Strong nutty yeast lees and spicy oak with peach, grapefruit and some mineral fruit characters. An heroic Chardonnay that should age well. Just a tad too oaky at this stage. Re-tasted one year later in April 2013. Oak appears to have moderated and the wine is showing good integration and plenty of complexity. Very intense
