Bleeding Heart Mclare Vale Cab Sav 750ml

Bleeding Heart Wine was born from a shared passion in the wines and vineyards of South Australia. The ancient soils and moderate climate create rich and full bodied wines that are incredibly satisfying. Few that experience the lifestyle of food and wine or the beautiful landscape could argue that it is not better a bleeding heart than none at all. Vineyards: Sourced from a combination of established, dry-grown vineyards in central South Australia and low-yielding McLaren Vale vineyards. Wines are made and matured by Jim Zerella in McLaren Vale. Winemaking: Fruit is chilled before de-stemming and a cold soak for three days. Each parcel is fermented separately with the McLaren Vale Shiraz fermented in small open two tonne vessels before maturation in two to four year old oak barrels for six months. The Big Rivers component is fermented and matured in stainless steel before blending. 2014 Vintage: 2014 can be characterised by tiny yields, unsettled weather and very good wine. A cold start to Spring disrupted flowering and significantly reduced yields. As is often the case, the weather flipped with two heatwaves and then heavy rains – however the small berries and bunches handled the conditions before relatively benign Autumn conditions. The result crop was for many the smallest on record but the fruit is outstanding - balanced and intensely flavoured. Tasting Note: A bright and inviting nose highlighting varietal blackberry and currant aromas, a hint of bramble and savour oak. Typical of McLaren Vale’s opulent take on Cabernet, the palate is full of dark berries and ripe plums before an impressively long finish given definition by fine tannins. An excellent combination of easy going approachability and Cabernet Sauvignon definition and structure.

The Ned Sauvignon Blanc 750ml

The Ned WL Sauvignon Blanc Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc as we love it, crisp minerality (mineral-like flavours if you know what we mean) with good grunty citrus characters, perfect partner to fresh oysters, (most seafood for that matter) and salads. The Cuisine judges recommend tuatua fritters with a squeeze of lemon - yum yum!

The Ned Pinot Gris 750ml

The Ned Pinot Gris 2011 Peachy keen, sexily spicy and appealingly smooth. Ned blushes a little pink, to remind us of the original skin-tone of the grapes, a doffed cap to pedigree, perhaps. Classic rose petals in a crystal bowl by the front door of the manse aroma (is it rude to stoop and sniff?), the fruit-led palate is weighty yet still razor sharp. Food Match: Light Poultry and Cheese Varietal: Pinot Gris Region / Country: Marlborough, New Zealand

Trinity Hill Gimblett Syrah 750

Deep, vibrant crimson in colour, blackberry, black pepper, savoury and spice elements are prominent, with meaty overtones. The Viognier has added a lifted aromatic quality. Multi-layered complexity is the aim. Powerful, but ripe and round tannins give the wine great structure. The development of mineral, earthy and tarry characters are likely during bottle aging, resulting in a wine that is distinctly Northern Rhone-like rather than resembling any thing Australian.
